House Remodel 2009

I wrote previously that I would show you pictures of the hard work we did this summer to successfully make our home "ours". Enjoy. . .

The first few pictures are of Aaron's Dallas Cowboys room. He loves it and it's a much more grown up look than the Spiderman stuff he had until recently. :)

The next group is of the kids bathroom. It is painted a yellow color to simulate the beach as the rest of it is kind of marine life stuff. It's very cute.

Then we have the master bath. We chose brown and blue to maintain the theme in the bedroom and it looks really fresh and updated. We were very happy with how it all turned out.

The last group of pics is Natalie's polka dot room. She loves how this turned out. Obviously. It's all pink! She has my "big girl bed" from when I was a kid and the headboard that goes with it. It's so much fun to be able to pass that down. :)

Life happens. . .

So it's been a long while, but I knew it might be between posts. Since I last wrote we have the kids back full time now, THANK GOODNESS, school has started for Aaron, Natalie, and I so things are beginning to get back in the swing of things. It works better that way. I love summers off but it totally throws our whole family out of whack. We function much much better on a definitive schedule. :)

Natalie was really sick for about a week. She had ridiculously high fevers, like 105 folks, and the doctors claimed that was only moderately high, nothing to worry about. Seriously?? If that is only moderately high what on earth can I get excited about? Their words not mine. 105 is nothing to get excited about. Really? Cause I was pretty excited. Anyway after two visits and me being angry worried momma on them, they figured out she had a urinary tract infection. Never would have guessed that one.
Today we had our family picture taken for the church directory. This is what our beautiful family looks like together!

Almost August!!

Well as you know for those who live with educators our internal annual clock doesn't run January to December like regular folks. Our yearly calendar runs August to June. :) So in light of that my new year is about to begin again!! Wow, can it really be time already?

We get the kids back on Sunday night (yes the very evening before school begins for them both) but that's a subject for another day. They both start hitting the ground running on Monday. Wow, Aaron is a fourth grader this year. Next year he'll be in middle school with me. I can't even imagine having a middle schooler! Natalie has one more year at preschool and then when Aaron goes to middle school she'll start kindergarten. Wow!! Where did time go?

Around the house we are trying to get everything settled. Before the wedding we moved the majority of my earthly belongings to Brian's but just dumped it and didn't put anything away really. However in an effort to make his house our home we have redone tons of stuff. We redid Natalie's room, her room still looked like her nursery at age four. Light pink walls, Beatrix Potter chair rail border, tiny twin bed, you get the idea. We painted it a light off white clean color and turned it into a "big girl" room. She has a full size bed now, fun polka dot bedding, and princess decor. Not Disney Princess, but just fun sweet girly princess. It's way cute. Aaron's room got an overhall at Christmas turning his Siderman room into a Dallas Cowboys room. Very young man! We also painted our bathroom and bedroom coordinating colors. We are using chocolate browns and blues in both rooms and we painted the bathroom the lightest blue color and did the ceiling in the same cream of Nat's room. It was a blood red color, yes that's right blood red in the smallest master bath on the planet. The bedroom was this deep chocolate brown color on three walls and an accent wall of navy. We painted the room the same cream color as Nat's as well with a different accent wall of the light blue of the bathroom. It all looks amazing. I will post pics of our beautiful home as soon as I get it all put back together. Trust me. You don't want to see it right now. :)

We are having great fun on this new adventure in our lives and are trying to get two three bedroom homes to fit in the space of one. :) We'll get it done and as soon as we do I want you all to come over for a fun housewarming party. Sound great??

Enjoy your last few days of summer. I'm off to put more things away!

Welcome

Hey guys! Well we are finally all back and not at all settled in, but I thought what a better way to procrastinate getting the house back together than to start something new. :)

I started this for our new family so that I can keep everyone updated with the fun happenings around the Barker household. I will try to update at a reasonable time frame, but well life happens.

Enjoy the fun antics and daily life blessings that are the Barker household!
